Weekend Shake-Up: No Unbeaten Teams Remain as Playoff Race Heats Up

After the three matches concluded last weekend, there are no remaining unbeaten teams, as Bellingham United suffered their first loss of the season. They now sit at 5-1, joined by three other clubs with identical records. Meanwhile, Skagit Athletic FC secured their second straight victory and now joins Vancouver Victory and Bellevue Athletic 2 in the race for the fourth and final playoff spot. FC Olympia will look to regain lost ground, while Rat City FC is still searching for their first win of the campaign.

Bellingham United at Yakima United

In an exciting match between Bellingham United FC and Yakima United FC, the scoring began with Yakima’s Brian Licona finding the net off an assist from Diego Lopez to take the lead. Bellingham quickly responded, as Jordan Johnson, assisted by Jordon Voigt, equalized the game. Thomas Watson then put Bellingham ahead with an unassisted goal. In the second half, Licona struck again for Yakima to tie the match, followed by his third goal—this time assisted by Daniel Farias—to regain the lead. Bellingham’s Judah Straight leveled the score once more, but Jose Marquez of Yakima sealed the victory with a late goal, ending the game 4-3 in favor of Yakima United FC.

Vancouver Victory at WE Surf SC

In a high-scoring first half, Vancouver Victory started strong with two quick goals from JP Warnell, taking a commanding 2-0 lead. However, WE SURF SC responded with a resilient and determined comeback. Beckett Arthur began the rally with a well-placed goal to narrow the gap, and Bryce Allred followed with back-to-back strikes, demonstrating his finishing touch and composure under pressure. His efforts flipped the match, giving WE SURF SC a 3-2 lead by halftime.

With this thrilling comeback victory, the Surf have now won five straight matches and sit confidently atop the standings. Their momentum and resilience continue to make them the team to beat as the season progresses.

Rat City FC at Skagit Athletic FC

Skagit Athletic FC delivered a dominant performance, overwhelming Rat City FC with a 10-0 victory—their highest goal total of the season. The scoring avalanche began with Calvinh Huynh opening the floodgates, followed by goals from Ivan Mendez, Jesus Ramirez, Jasper Marijk, Noe Betancourt-Cruz, and Daniel Martinez. Ramirez led the way with four goals, showcasing his clinical finishing throughout the match. Huynh added a second goal, and Ramirez capped off the rout with two more in the second half.

Riki Ishikawa had a multi-goal performance with SAFC in last week's win vs Rat City.

This emphatic win marks Skagit’s second consecutive victory and moves them into the positive in goal differential. With their recent surge in form, Skagit Athletic FC is now firmly in contention for the final playoff spot, gaining momentum at a crucial point in the season.
