EPLWA’s Rat City FC Reaches Final of 6th Annual WSASA Super Cup

Tournament Showcases Statewide Soccer Collaboration at Skagit Valley College

Last week, the 6th Washington State Adult Soccer Association (WSASA) Super Cup took place at Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon. The competition brought together sixteen teams from across Washington and featured clubs from the Evergreen Premier League Washington (EPLWA), UPSL Washington, and a number of affiliated independent teams.

The “Super Cup” was founded from a desire to follow the US Open Cup and Nationwide club tournaments [like the FA Cup] in England,” said Tim Busch, Super Cup President.

In the final, EPLWA’s Rat City FC battled FC International in an exciting matchup that capped off a tournament filled with cross-league competition and statewide participation. Now in its sixth year, the Super Cup continues to grow as a platform that unites adult soccer teams from multiple levels and affiliations. Last year, Yakima United claimed the championship; this season brought a fresh set of contenders and storylines.

EPLWA clubs were well represented in the 2025 edition. In addition to Rat City FC, the league fielded teams such as Bellevue Athletic, Bellevue Athletic 2, Bellingham United, Skagit Athletic, and defending champions Yakima United. The EPLWA’s involvement highlighted its commitment to growing the adult game through collaborative competition with other leagues and independent programs statewide.

The tournament’s sixteen-team format encouraged matchups across various levels of play, underscoring the diversity and depth of talent in Washington’s adult soccer community. The mix of USASA-sanctioned clubs, UPSL sides, and newly affiliated independent teams offered a unique blend of styles and competition, reinforcing the Super Cup’s role as a statewide celebration of the sport.

Rat City FC advanced to the final after a strong run through the bracket. The team opened the tournament with a win over Bellevue Athletic 2, followed by a quarterfinal victory and a semifinal triumph over Seagam. Their path reflected both consistency and resilience in a highly competitive field.

FC International’s road to the final was equally impressive. They defeated Skagit Premier and Salish Rangers—both from the EPLWA Championship League—before knocking out UPSL’s Bellevue Athletic to secure their place in the championship match.

While Rat City ultimately fell short in the final, their performance in the match was to be commended as they hung with FC International until the later part of the second half.
